This remodel focused on improving flow, functionality, and access to views in a three-story single-family home. The existing layout felt closed off—particularly in the kitchen, which had an awkward shape and blocked visual and physical connection to the outdoors. The client wanted to better utilize the home’s hillside location, open up views, and create a more seamless connection to the pool and patio for entertaining.

We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the dining and living areas, replacing it with a peninsula to maintain spatial organization without limiting openness. A 13-foot LaCantina folding door was added to the wall facing the pool, paired with 10 feet of new windows along the adjacent wall to maximize natural light and outdoor views. A new pergola extends from the doors, providing shade and extending the living space outdoors.

To address the kitchen’s geometry and the client’s desire to conceal appliances, we designed a built-in kitchen core—housing the oven and fridge—placed away from the main lines of sight. This volume is finished in teal tile, giving it visual presence while clearly defining it from the rest of the space. A custom pantry wall conceals storage and improves circulation from the TV room to the patio.

Other updates included custom cabinetry throughout, an integrated dog food station in the island, conversion of a storage closet into a wine nook, new tile in the guest bathroom, and wallpaper in the primary bedroom. The result is a more open, functional home that better supports both everyday living and hosting.
